OPC Interoperability Workshops
Software Toolbox participates in the annual OPC Interoperability workshops held by the OPC Foundation because they provide an outstanding
opportunity to further test how our OPC products perform in a multi-vendor environment and to show our committment to quality products and support to our valued clients.
If you have any questions about our participation in interop, please contact us.
January 2002 OPC Interop Workshop
At this year's workshop, we tested even more deeply than we did in 2001 in terms of the types of tests we ran with the OPC Data ActiveX control and
the complexity of our testing application.
We tested Synch Reads, Synch Writes, and Asynch Subscription reads, which are the 3 methods with which the OPC Data control can communicate with OPC Servers. We also tested varying update rates including extremely high update rates, deadband settings, and simultaneous high speed reads. Where supported, we also tested Array Variable read/writes - not all OPC servers support arrays but for those that did, we tested. The entire workshop was done via DCOM connections over a 100 Mb network with all client and server machines on the same subnet ( approximately 60 computers ).
Below is a list of the OPC servers that we tested with. If you want to discuss the particular results with a server listed, please contact us.
Out of respect for the OPC server vendors, we are not publishing their failures here for they may have remedied them by the time you visit this page.
If your OPC server vendor is not listed it does NOT mean that our OPC Data control will not work with it - if the OPC Server follows the specs, the
OPC Data Control should work fine all the same. It only means that vendor was not present at the Interop Workshop.
If your OPC Server vendor has never attended an OPC Interop workshop, you as their customer should encourage them too -- it's a great technical session and a great opportunity for them to test out their products with others - we'll be there doing the testing so you as the customer don't have to!
We tested with the following OPC servers. There were no issues found that were issues with the OPC Data Control client application with any of
these servers in testing. If you will be using one of these servers and wish to discuss any server side issues that were seen (that may be resolved by now by the server vendor), please contact us.

January 2001 OPC Interop Workshop
Software Toolbox participated in the January 2001 OPC Foundation Interoperability Workshop. We participated
in this engineering workshop to have the opportunity to test the OPC Data Control with a wide variety of OPC
servers. This workshop put dozens of OPC client and server vendors together on a DCOM network to test their
products talking to each other. We are pleased to report to our clients that the OPC Data ActiveX control faired very well in the testing against nearly 30 different OPC servers from 20 vendors.
The list below is the list of company's who had products at the OPC interop workshop that we tested with. If
your OPC server vendor is not listed it does NOT mean that our OPC Data control will not work with it. It only means that vendor was not present at the Interop Workshop.
